In an effort to streamline its ad targeting and provide more effective services to advertisers, Google's saying goodbye to duplicate location targeting on Local Services. That means no more running multiple ads for the exact same spot. This might sound like a small change, but it's actually a big step towards a fairer playing field for everyone.

Think about it

Before, businesses could flood a specific area with their ads by using a multitude of Local Service accounts, making it tough for others to get noticed. Plus, it kinda messed with the data, making it harder to track what was really working.

Now, Google's putting a stop to that. With only one ad per location allowed, things will be more streamlined and competition will be more balanced.

The key takeaway

If businesses have profiles that target the same locations, Local Services will show only the highest ranking ad in response to a user's query. Meaning that even know they have removed the ability for duplicate profiles to show up, your competitors can still out rank you with their strongest profile. Focus on answer, response, and review rates to strength your profile!
